A North St. Paul group home employee allegedly admitted he’d fallen asleep the night a man under his care escaped into the extreme cold and was later found dead by an officer on routine patrol, according to criminal charges.
Prosecutors in Ramsey County charged 29-year-old Abiodun Olalekan Onakoya, of Champlin, with felony criminal neglect in connection with the Jan. 27 incident.
According to the criminal complaint, a North St. Paul police officer found the 44-year-old group home resident lying face down in the street at the intersection of 17th Avenue East and 2nd Street North just before 4:30 a.m. that morning…
