THC Found In Driver’s Blood: Criminal Charges Filed Due To Child Passenger

BURNETT COUNTY — A weekend traffic stop for illegal window tinting in Webster, WI, has led to criminal charges against a Minnesota man after authorities say crime lab testing confirmed THC in his bloodstream while he was driving with a child in the vehicle.

On June 7, 2025, 33-year-old Kevin Salmela, of Inver Grove Heights, was pulled over by a Wisconsin State Patrol trooper along State Highway 35. The Trooper noticed the smell of intoxicants and ultimately located marijuana-related products inside the vehicle. Salmela is scheduled to have a court hearing in March 2026.
