Washburn council passes resolution expressing sympathy towards Minneapolis

Washburn residents and people across the country have strong feelings about what has happened in Minneapolis since early January when federal immigration enforcement agents arrived, said Washburn Mayor Mary Motiff during the Feb. 9 City Council meeting.

As a sign of support, Motiff proposed a resolution that council members approved condemning the fatal shootings of Nicole Good and Alex Pretti by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents.

“Council recognizes the profound impact these incidents had on families, neighborhoods and civic life and affirms the principle that all government action must uphold constitutional rights and the sanctity of human life,” the resolution said…
