A Forecast First Alert continues through Wednesday evening because of wet, heavy snow in the south metro, and blizzard conditions along the Minnesota River Valley in southwest Minnesota.
There is a band of heavy snow setting up over the south metro late Wednesday afternoon. Cities south of 494, and most of Scott and Carver County will get 3 or 4 inches of snow. However, there could be isolated totals as high as 5 or 6 inches. The north metro could still get an inch or two through the evening.
Expect slower, slippery conditions in the south metro for the evening commute. In open areas, especially outside of cities, strong winds gusting up to 40 mph will cause whiteout conditions and even tougher travel.
