While the Department of Homeland Security and local politicians continue to say that the number of ICE and CBP agents in Minnesota is declining, the challenges continue for residents and business owners.
Roberto Alvarado Mendoza and Diego Alvarado bought Richfield’s American Pie Pizza last January. Shortly after a November relaunch, Diego was taken by ICE agents while delivering a pizza, despite having a valid work visa, according to the restaurant and his nephew, Minneapolis City Council member Jason Chavez.
Diego was detained for around four weeks before being deported to Mexico, KARE 11 reports.
“He had a permit to be here. He’s been here for a long time. No criminal record, no nothing,” Roberto told the news station earlier this month, talking about his brother, who is working with an attorney in hopes of returning to his family and business in Minnesota…
