A late-night shooting at the Historic Abbott Apartments in the Stevens Square neighborhood left one man dead Tuesday, turning the well-known south Minneapolis building into an active crime scene as officers worked into the early morning hours.
Police response and investigation
Minneapolis police say officers were called to the Abbott Apartments around 11 p.m. Tuesday on reports of gunfire. When they arrived, they found a man suffering from gunshot wounds. He later died, according to KARE 11.
Officers cordoned off the building while detectives collected evidence and went door to door looking for witnesses. As of early Wednesday, police had not announced any arrests and were still working to determine what led up to the shooting, KARE 11 reported.

The shooting took place at the Historic Abbott Apartments at 110 East 18th Street. The complex occupies the former Abbott Hospital, a century-old medical facility that was converted into housing in the 2010s. The project turned the old hospital into a recognizable residential landmark in Stevens Square, according to Finance & Commerce.
