A freshman at the University of Minnesota who suffered head trauma and severe fractures in a fall from a Mississippi River overlook on Nov. 15, 2025, continues to recover.
Ryan Zimmerman, 19, suffered spinal and head fractures, broken ribs, a collapsed lung, and significant trauma in the accident. First responders reached him by boat, and he was rushed to emergency surgery, where he was hospitalized in critical condition.
Now, more than three months later, including five weeks in the intensive care unit, he continues to make progress at a neurorehabilitation center, the Craig Hospital, in Englewood, Colorado.
“It’s hard to believe it’s been over three months since Ryan’s fall in mid-November. When they told us this would be a year or more journey, they weren’t kidding,” an update posted Feb. 24 on his GoFundMe page reads…
