KARE 11’s Kent Erdahl introduced it as one of those stories that sounds like a made-up joke until you realize there’s police paperwork attached to it. A Minneapolis man, Erdahl reported, ordered a simple piece of outdoor gear from Amazon – an outdoor hydration vest meant for skiing – and got something far more dangerous with it.
This wasn’t a porch pirate story, Erdahl said, and it wasn’t a package delivered to the wrong address with someone else’s socks inside. This package, as he put it, was “packing heat.”
The customer, Travis Meier, told Erdahl that the delivery looked normal when he picked it up off his doorstep on February 12. Nothing about the box screamed “emergency,” and nothing about a hydration vest suggests you’re about to stumble into a loaded weapon…
