GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. — Your phone’s weather app may be convenient, but it’s not always completely accurate.
KARE 11 Meteorologist Jamie Kagol said the app on your phone is good to see what the current weather conditions are like, and it’s even a safe bet to use to see what the weather will be like six hours out. What they aren’t the best at is predicting snowfall totals.
“An app is a very simplistic look at the weather forecast. So, you take one model, and you pump out those numbers, rainfall, snowfall, wind, just one model. When you’re a meteorologist, you look at several models and some models have strengths that match up with other models’ weaknesses,” Kagol said…
