Minnesota meteorologist blends motherhood and forecasting through babywearing

MINNEAPOLIS — In many workplaces, “bring your kid to work day” is a rare occasion. But for one Eden Prairie mother, being alongside her children while she works has become part of her daily routine, and a mission she’s passionate about sharing.

From her office in Eden Prairie, meteorologist Susie Martin delivers forecasts to clients across the country with her two-year-old son Sully by her side. Sometimes, the mother of two uses a carrier or wrap to carry her children on her back or chest while broadcasting. Martin began babywearing in 2016, after learning about the practice and quickly embracing it.

“I’m an adoptive mom. I actually first heard about babywearing from our adoption agency, and it was on a list of ways to help promote bonding between you and your infant,” she said. “Throughout those first few months especially, it was just huge for both him and I to both be close in contact like that.”…
