Plymouth considers half-cent sales tax to cover $135M upgrade to athletic facilities

The City of Plymouth is considering a $135 million plan to upgrade its athletic facilities, which would see a tax increase for residents and out-of-towners.

Plymouth Ice Center manager Erik Halverson says his city has a problem: outdated athletic facilities and not enough of those facilities to go around.

Halverson said the Wayzata Youth Hockey Association rents 700 hours of ice outside of Plymouth each year because there isn’t enough ice in the city for those who want it…
