Minneapolis – Tensions boiled over outside the Whipple Federal Building during an anti-ICE demonstration on April 11, when a local family clashed with Turning Point USA reporter Savanah Hernandez. Video footage captured the confrontation, which quickly went viral and drew accusations of assault from both sides. The father involved spoke out this week, maintaining that his family acted only in self-defense.[1][2]

The protest drew more than 100 demonstrators opposed to Immigration and Customs Enforcement operations. Hernandez arrived to film B-roll footage without plans for interviews. Protesters soon surrounded her upon learning her affiliation with the conservative group Turning Point USA.[3]
Footage showed family members Chris Ostroushko, his wife DeYanna, and daughter Paige approaching Hernandez. DeYanna pressed close and shoved her several times, according to Hernandez. Chris then pushed her from behind while yelling, and directed Paige to blow a whistle near her ear. Paige complied, getting inches from Hernandez’s face before an exchange led to shoves.[4][1]…
