New restaurant selected for Minneapolis space soon-to-be vacated by Owamni

A new restaurant has been selected to take over the space that will be vacated by award-winning Owamni, which is moving to the Guthrie Theatre later this year.

The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board has confirmed that the Water Works Pavilion will be home to Arch and River this coming summer.

The restaurant is a new concept from owner Diane Moukouri and her husband, executive chef Fritz Ebanda, who are the duo behind B’beri Desserts, a French pastry shop located inside the Alliance Francaise MSP building in the Near North neighborhood.

Moukouri and Ebanda are promising “French bistronomie with Afro-Caribbean twist” at the new restaurant, serving coffee and pastries in the morning; brunch, lunch and goĆ»ter (French afternoon snack) in the afternoon; and “dinner and a charming dessert bar experience” in the evening.

The B’beri owners were selected by a panel of Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board staff after a request for proposals was issued in December. A five-year concessions agreement running through 2031 will be discussed by park board commissioners at an April 29 meeting…
