HASTINGS, Minn. — The Farmington man accused of shooting and killing his ex-girlfriend on Christmas Eve has been indicted by a Dakota County grand jury on two counts of first-degree murder.
Demarco Jones, 30, was indicted on one count of first-degree premeditated murder, one count of first-degree murder while committing domestic abuse with a past pattern of domestic abuse, and one count of second-degree intentional murder, according to Dakota County Attorney Kathy Keena. Jones was initially charged with second-degree intentional murder after prosecutors said he shot 26-year-old Tatianna Eshnes-Giles at their home in Castle Rock Township on Christmas Eve.
According to court documents, police were called to the home, just south of Farmington, at around 2:30 p.m. after Eshnes-Giles’ mother reported that her daughter wasn’t breathing after she’d been shot by her boyfriend, who she identified as Jones.
