A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for the Twin Cities and a wide area of central, southern and eastern Minnesota on Thursday afternoon and evening.
The Twin Cities metro is pretty much dead in the center of the watch area, with the National Weather Service warning that 70 mph winds, ping pong-sized hail, and isolated tornadoes are possible.
The watch will remain in effect until 8 p.m., with storms developing Thursday afternoon.
