A deadly shooting inside the Sherwood Glen apartments in Maplewood left a 41-year-old man dead Thursday night, and by the next morning, police say a suspect was tracked down across state lines in Rock Island, Illinois. Officers were called to the complex after reports of gunfire and found the man inside a unit, fatally wounded. His name, and the name of the person arrested, have not yet been made public as the investigation moves forward.
Maplewood police say officers were dispatched to 1510 County Road B East just after 8:20 p.m. Thursday on a report of gunshots. When they arrived, they found bullet holes in two apartment units and discovered the 41-year-old man with a gunshot wound. Despite life-saving efforts, he died at the scene, according to FOX 9.
Arrest In Rock Island
Investigators, with help from the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, began searching for a suspect that night. A man was arrested around 11 a.m. Friday in Rock Island, Illinois, by local officers, according to city updates reported by KSTP. Officials are treating the case as a homicide and say the investigation remains active.
