6 arrested after blocking traffic on Hennepin Avenue Bridge during May Day protest

Protesters say six people were arrested on Friday morning as more than 100 activists rallied peacefully on the Hennepin Avenue Bridge in downtown Minneapolis.

Organized by the Sunrise Movement, a youth-led organization that advocates for political action on climate change, the protest had nearly 100 people lined up, chanting and holding signs along the eastbound side of the bridge.

Meanwhile, more than a dozen protestors blocked traffic on the westbound side for around 45 minutes, according to organizers. Six sat in the roadway and were arrested by Minneapolis police…
