Driver of stolen car that hit Minnesota trooper at 80 mph charged

The 19-year-old accused of hitting a Minnesota trooper with a stolen car while driving 80 mph told officers he has “fun” cruising in swiped vehicles, charging documents state.

Thailand Taiwan Hawkins, 19, was charged on Monday with fleeing police, receiving stolen property and three counts of criminal vehicular operation in connection with a Friday night crash.

That crash pinned a state trooper inside a squad car, leaving the officer with a broken leg and shoulder blade, according to court documents. It also hospitalized two passengers in the stolen vehicle, one of whom suffered a compound leg fracture and a significant brain bleed…
