A Wayzata luxury real estate agent was sentenced to community service and probation, and paid back $400,000 after pleading guilty to not filing tax returns or paying income tax.
Hennepin County court records show Kevin Mullen, 43, pleaded guilty to two misdemeanors, with several felony charges dropped in exchange for the plea. Mullen was sentenced to probation and was also is ordered to perform 90 hours of community service.
A criminal complaint alleged Mullen failed to file or pay income tax returns from 2019 to 2023. In 2017, Mullen reportedly told Department of Revenue staff members he was in the midst of filing multiple late returns dating back as far as 2008.
Through his returns, a state tax specialist determined that Mullen’s taxable income ranged from a low of $181,658 in 2019 to a high of $2,404,609 in 2022 during those years, with Mullen involved in a number of high-profile residential sales…
