Cabin property taxes to fund northern Minnesota schools

ST. PAUL, Minn. (Northern News Now) – Twin Cities residents who have cabins and seasonal homes in the Northland will now contribute to northern Minnesota school funding.

The bill, proposed by Northland state Sen. Grant Hauschild, was included in Minnesota lawmakers’ overall budget deal.

It ensures local schools get their share of cabin property taxes, which have previously gone to the state’s general fund.
