MINNETONKA, Minn. — Two families evacuated their homes Sunday night and Monday morning after lightning strikes sparked fires in Minnetonka and Hugo.
Minnetonka fire crews extinguished a blaze at a home Sunday night. Most of the flames were concentrated in the attic.
“Homeowners called, they heard a loud boom, then called 911 and then smelled the smoke,” said Derek Metzger, Minnetonka’s deputy chief of operations and facilities. “With the storms rolling through the area, at this point, this is what that looks like.”…
