Fairhope officers make 4-year-old’s birthday wish come true: Smiles Behind the Shield

FAIRHOPE, Ala. (WKRG) — 4-year-old Woods Rogers got the birthday surprise of a lifetime, and it didn’t come wrapped in a box or covered in candles but in the form of two Fairhope police officers.

“He loves police officers, he loves firefighters, he loves the dogs that some of the police officers have and so that’s kind of what inspired the party,” Woods’ mom, Jenna Rogers, said.

After a few phone calls, two guys showed up! Corporal Dustin Holmes and Officer Michael Manson.

“I got a call from dispatch, a call from corporal and he said, ‘Hey, you mind helping me out? Come out here and stop by a kid’s birthday party,’ and of course I called officer Manson and said, ‘Hey man, meet me over here at this time, we’ll go show some kids our vehicles and let ’em play in them a little bit,” Holmes said.

Judging by the smiles, the kids and the officers loved every minute of it…
