FedEx driver accused of stealing $50,000 in electronic devices from Walmart

DAPHNE, Ala. (WKRG) — Thousands of packages come through the Walmart Distribution Center in Theodore every day and are delivered to 700 Walmart stores throughout the Southeast. One of those stores is in Daphne, and starting last year, those deliveries appeared to be coming up short.

“We were contacted by Walmart’s corporate loss and prevention back in April,” said Daphne Police Chief Brian Gulsby. “They noticed there was an unusually high loss of electronics from the Daphne Walmart.”

Most of those electronics were Apple Watches and iPhones, according to Gulsby, with a combined value of more than $50,000.

“So they started putting some sensors, tracking devices, into packages and determined that they were being either not delivered or opened and items removed somewhere between the Theodore distribution center and our Walmart.”

Earlier this week, the police were notified that it had happened again…
