MOBILE COUNTY, Ala. (WKRG) — Construction on the Cedar Point Boat Launch will soon take place in Coden right across from the Cedar Point Pier.

The plan has been in the works since the county bought the pier back in 2021. After being open for almost a year, the pier’s success has people looking forward to what is coming next across the street.
“You’ll be able to launch probably up to a 30 or 32-foot boat,” said Mobile County Commissioner Randall Dueitt, who represents District 3.
The $6.5 million contract will have the new spot feature a two-lane boat ramp, better lighting, and plenty of parking for both cars and big trucks with trailers.
“It’s probably going to be more suited for inshore fishing, but I think people can actually use it and hit the Intracoastal, or around the west end of the island, you can be in the Gulf,” said Dueitt.
The best part for local homeowners? The money comes entirely from state grants…
