New Mobile crime data show steep drop in most categories

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – Crime fell nearly across the board in 2025, continuing a trend that began nearly a decade ago, according to newly released statistics.

The Mobile Police Department on Friday published its annual crime report. Homicides fell by 15.8 percent from 2024 to 2025. Sexual assaults were down by 31.9 percent. Robbery, aggravated assault and larceny all experienced double-digit percentage decreases.

“If you’re that one person that’s a victim, this report probably doesn’t mean a lot to you,” Chief William Jackson told FOX10 News. “But this report reflects the hard work the men and women of this department do every single day. And we also know, as you’ll see in my message in there, that as good as this report is, there’s still more work to be done.”…
