MOBILE COUNTY, Ala. (WKRG) — A maritime training facility in the Port City, hidden somewhat in plain sight, helps students get ready for their shipyard careers.

It’s hard to miss when you’re crossing Mobile Bay. Just off the Causeway, the building with the countries listed along the shipping containers- that’s where you’ll find the AIDT Maritime Training Center.
“Alabama Industrial Development Training,” instructor Davey Miller said. “We are the maritime division of that so we train specifically to go to work in the shipyards.”
The 14-week program offers three main classes: structural fitting, structural welding and pipe fitting. A big appeal to students is that the program is free to take.
“One, it’s free, and two is a lot of recruiters and stuff, they come here and they come in and look at everybody and see how you doing,” current student Keylan Hill said. “If you doing good, they’ll come and hire you on.”…
