MOBILE, Ala. (NBC 15) — Heavy rain from the remnants of Tropical Storm Arthur caused the Styx River to flood Thursday. The rising water forced one business to mover merchandise to higher ground. Charlie Gates had to move firearms and inventory out of Styx River Shooting Center before floodwaters could reach the building.
“We’ve got all the equipment out of here,” said Gates. “We didn’t lose anything. Water’s not in the building this time. Blessing.”
Flooded roads also left some residents temporarily cut off. Mason Tarver walked through knee-deep water to deliver food to his mom and grandmother who were stranded on the other side of Waterworld Road. For Gates, flooding has become an all-too-familiar routine. He says this was the third time he has had to move items in the last two years…
