Controversial 2,000-acre solar farm in Stockton may avoid new rules: Here’s why

A controversial Stockton solar farm project would likely receive grandfathered status if residents vote next week to adopt zoning regulations, according to Baldwin County officials. That’s because developers submitted a completed application in advance of the zoning referendum.

With only six days remaining before the special zoning referendum in Stockton, Jessica Waters, a spokesperson for Baldwin County, confirmed that a proposed $350 million, 2,000-acre solar farm will be exempt from zoning laws that could restrict its development, should the referendum pass.
