MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – The Mobile Police Department is seeking a budget increase to hire 15 more officers, which would push the authorized force to 531.
The Mobile City Council last year voted to add an additional 24 policing positions.
Deputy Chief Matt Garrett told FOX10 News that as of now, the department has 505 officers. He said it is the first time in years that the city has had more than 500 officers.
