Mobile police pursuit ends in multi-vehicle crash on McGregor Avenue; driver seriously injured

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – A driver suffered life-threatening injuries Wednesday after leading officers on a pursuit that ended in a multiple-vehicle crash, according to police.

Police said that at about 11:50 a.m. officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop near Michael Boulevard and Azalea Road following a traffic violation. The driver refused to pull over, initiating a pursuit that ended on McGregor Avenue near the intersection of Old Shell Road, police said.

During the incident, the fleeing driver struck a police vehicle and at least two other vehicles, officials said.

The male driver who led the pursuit was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, the MPD said. Two occupants from one of the other struck vehicles were taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries…
