SARALAND, Ala. (WKRG) — An injured owl landed in a woman’s yard in Saraland, and you might be surprised who came to the rescue. Officers with the Saraland Police Department.

“I wasn’t real sure who to call, so I called Saraland. They are always my go-to people up here,” said Denise Stafford, the woman who nominated the officer. “A group of them came, and when the sun came up we saw that the owl was hung on some fishing wire from the tree and he couldn’t put his arm down.”
But it was one officer in particular who stayed behind for hours, keeping watch over the injured owl until animal control arrived. That officer was Jon Barnes.
“When the sun came up, Officer Barnes saw the line, got behind the owl, he clipped it, and the owl ran off, and they left, but Officer Barnes came back, and he stayed,” said Barnes…
