MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – Two suspected drug traffickers were arrested Tuesday after leading law enforcement on separate high-speed chases in Mobile County — including one suspect who rammed multiple patrol vehicles in a desperate attempt to escape, authorities said.
The arrests capped a multi-stage operation by the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office and the federal Gulf of America Task Force, resulting in the seizure of five pounds of methamphetamine, one kilogram of cocaine, 21 grams of fentanyl and 10 firearms, according to a news release.
Undercover investigators tracking a drug pipeline from South Florida spotted primary suspect Dramico Monte Bailey Jr., 29, meeting Kashunte Quintrell Tate, 28, in a Semmes business parking lot Tuesday afternoon, the release states.
Following the suspected transaction, Tate fled in a black Honda Accord when deputies attempted a traffic stop, reaching speeds over 100 mph, according to officials. Deputies executed a vehicle intervention maneuver to end the pursuit without civilian injuries.
