Cox caught a quick pass to the outside from quarterback Rayvon Johnson, then took it for an 80-yard touchdown against the Fairhope Pirates. His explosive run would blow past the other contenders for play of the week by taking 66% of the votes.
Cox would account for 115 receiving yards, but the Tigers would take their first loss of the season with a 33-21 score.
The Tigers (1-1) will take on the Theodore Bobcats (1-1) on the road for week three of the high school football season on Friday night.
