LOXLEY, Ala. (WALA) – Baldwin County highways were crowded as holiday beachgoers made their way out of town. Highway 59 and the Baldwin Beach Express handled most of the traffic.
Before 11 a.m., traffic was already backing up on Highway 59 North near I-10 as visitors who spent Labor Day weekend at Baldwin County beaches headed home. A few miles to the east, the Baldwin Beach Express was busier. Buc-ee’s Beach Express Travel Center had lines of cars waiting to get in and out of the parking lot. Several travelers said the stop was mandatory on the way home.
Chris Dalton, headed to Tennessee, said, “It has been crazy, especially up through here. It has just been bumper to bumper. Everybody loves Buc-ee’s.”
Chris Vazquez said, “This place is just like it’s an American monument. It’s fantastic. You come here just to see the craziness.”…
