BAY MINETTE, Ala. (WALA) – Opening statements and testimony began Wednesday in the capital murder trial for Jared Smith-Bracy, following two days of jury selection. Smith-Bracy is accused of killing his brother, grandparents and their friend at his grandparents’ Daphne home in February 2023.

In her opening argument, Chief Assistant DA Teresa Heinz laid out the timeline of Feb. 22, 2023, leading up to the killings of Smith-Bracy’s family and their friend.
