A new 54-room hotel across from Bay Minette City Hall opened late last month, and local officials say it reflects the economic growth occurring across North Baldwin County.
The new Cobblestone Hotel & Suites, a Wisconsin-based brand, opened Aug. 28 at 212 W. First St. in downtown Bay Minette. It is the second Cobblestone property in Baldwin County, joining an existing location in Foley. The privately funded project cost more than $10 million.
In announcing the opening, company officials pointed to economic activity in the region, including expansion at the South Alabama Megasite. The site is home to Novelis’ $5 billion aluminum plant, which is expected to begin commercial shipments in the second quarter of next year…
