SARALAND, Ala. (WALA) – The driver of the cement truck involved in a deadly, fiery crash on Kushla McLeod Road was distracted, according to a crash report from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.
Law enforcement agencies responded to the Sept 2. crash shortly before 12 p.m. ALEA said 21-year-old Jeriah Roberts was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the crash report, the cement truck, owned by Bay Concrete, was traveling westbound on Kushla McLeod. The driver “advised he became distracted while looking for his wallet, which had fallen on the floorboard inside the vehicle…when he looked up, he observed that his vehicle had crossed the center line.”
The report also said once the cement truck swerved, Roberts also swerved to the right, running off the road. The cement truck then overturned on top of Roberts’ car before landing in the ditch…
