MOBILE, Ala. (NBC 15) — A man charged in an attack on an older man in downtown Mobile did not appear in court Wednesday after prosecutors were told he was in the hospital. Kenneth Riggins is charged with second-degree elder abuse in connection with the attack that happened at the corner of Broad and Dauphin streets. A Mobile County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson said Riggins became ill in jail and was taken to the hospital for observation.
Riggins was on probation for a similar attack that happened in 2025. He was convicted of punching a woman in face, breaking her right orbital bone, nose and jaw. He was released from jail in August.
“As far as I can tell, it’s totally random. You know, again, just not going to tolerate that,” said Mobile County District Attorney Keith Blackwood. “Our plan is to ask for no bond, to have his probation revoked and for him to go to prison and hopefully stay there for as long as we can keep him there.”…
