ROBERTSDALE, Ala. ( WKRG ) — One look under the blue tarp covering the silver Chevy HHR in a local tow yard, and it’s hard to believe anyone could have survived the crash.

Investigators say Kimberly McClarren, 38, was behind the wheel when deputies tried to pull her over at the intersection of County Road 32 and 73 in Summerdale for running a stop sign.

“She took off from the traffic stop in Summerdale, and went south into Foley. Foley PD assisted us and spiked the tires. Somewhere she turned back north and made it to Robertsdale before she crashed into the building,” says Baldwin County Sheriff’s Capt. Andre Reid.

That building is the old feed and seed store on the northbound side of Highway 59 near the split in Robertsdale.

Losing control as she made the curve at the split in Robertsdale, the car spun around, the rear of the vehicle smashing into the building first. The impact was so violent the car was stuck inside the building, and McClarren was trapped until deputies took her into custody.
