MOBILE COUNTY, Ala. ( WKRG ) — Heavy rains have led to more than 733,000 gallons of sanitary sewer overflow, according to a report from the Prichard Water Works & Sewer Board.

Dr. Kevin Philip Michaels, Mobile County’s health officer, said area residents should take precautions near standing water that may have resulted from these overflows.
Those who encounter untreated sewage should wash their hands and clothing thoroughly, according to the release.
