Spanish Fort man pleads guilty to 2021 murder the week trial was supposed to start

BALDWIN COUNTY, Ala. ( WKRG ) — A man set to be on trial this week for a 2021 murder has pleaded guilty to the crime.

Tyler Cardarius McCryndle, 31, pleaded guilty Monday to the murder of R.J. Daniels in July of 2021. McCryndle’s trial was set to begin this week, but he took the plea before the trial started.

Daniels was shot in front of his grandmother’s home on West Ellis Street, according to previous reporting . McCryndle turned himself in after he became a person of interest early on in the investigation.

McCryndle was sentenced to 20 years in prison.
