Officials at the hospital said that the residency program will help them to improve care options in the Mobile region.

“While our hospital has been fortunate to train and develop new physicians for many years, this new program fulfills our long-term vision of doing so through Mobile Infirmary directly,” Mobile Infirmary President Susan Boudreau said. “This will allow us to recruit and retain more physicians to our region and care for all communities in South Alabama.”

The new residency program will be overseen by JoAnn Wood, MD. According to a news release, the program is now accepting applicants for the class of 2024-2025.
