Zach Frazier ‘Should Be Fully Cleared’ by the Combine

West Virginia center Zach Frazier spent the last week in Mobile, Alabama for the Reese’s Senior Bowl getting to meet and be around NFL coaches, scouts, and GMs. Although he was unable to participate due to the leg injury he suffered at Baylor, it was still a good opportunity for him to begin networking with folks at the next level.

Following one of the Senior Bowl practices, Frazier took a few questions from the media and gave an update on how things are coming along in his road to recovery.

“By the (NFL) Combine, I should be fully cleared. We’ll see how well I recover and train, so will see where I’m at. But I should definitely be able to run at Pro Day. When I was out here today, it was a little tempting. I wanted to jump in there but I can’t push it.”

Frazier is uncertain whether or not he’ll be able to fully participate at the combine later this month in Indianapolis, but it’s not expected to impact his draft stock whatsoever if he is either limited or a full no-go.

All you have to do is flip the tape on for a few minutes to get an understanding of how ready Frazier is for the NFL. He’s an absolute mauler and most importantly, has the smarts to play center at a high level. The Baylor game is the perfect example of that. He saved West Virginia probably well over 30 seconds of game clock, and they needed every bit of it, by wrapping up wide receiver Hudson Clement and carrying him to the first down marker. He injured his leg on the play, but hobbled off the field immediately instead of going down and causing a 10-second runoff.
