The state’s closing argument

Prosecutor Madison Davis opened Tuesday’s closing arguments.

Davis opened by saying that 60 witnesses were called in this case, and she argued that Perez intentionally killed Mobile police officer Sean Tuder.

She broke down the indictment to the jury and said the state had to prove Tuder was on duty and Perez killed Tuder because of his occupation or because he was performing actions related to his job.

She said Tuder’s cause of death was multiple gunshot wounds, and that everyone agrees that Perez killed Tuder. She argued the case is not a “Who did it?” incident.

Davis explained to the jury how the state proved Tuder was on duty and Perez knew that fact. She went on to recap the timeline of the case leading up to Tuder’s murder.
