2 bystanders shot after couple get into argument: Mobile Police

MOBILE, Ala. ( WKRG ) — Two people were injured Sunday after a shooting near the intersection of Springhill Avenue and Broad Street.

A news release from the Mobile Police Department said officers were in the area around 6:20 p.m. on Sunday when they heard gunshots. When officers got to the scene, they found that the shooting had happened as a result of an argument.

Officers said the argument was between a married couple that was known to the subject, later identified as 31-year-old Charlesa Kate Welch. The release said when friends of the couple tried to “de-escalate” the situation, Welch pulled out a gun and attempted to shoot the husband.

That is when Welch accidentally shot two bystanders. The two victims were taken to a local hospital where they were treated for their injuries.
