Mobile Fire and Rescue reminds the public of safety tips ahead of Mardi Gras

MOBILE, Ala. ( WKRG ) — With Mardi Gras a day away, Mobile Fire-Rescue is reminding the public of safety tips to keep in mind for the parades.

In a Facebook post from Mobile Fire-Rescue , the department asks the public to not forget about safety while enjoying the festivities of Carnival season.

  • Park like a champ: Obey parking signs to avoid getting towed. Be careful as to not block streets or fire hydrants.
  • Grilling safety: Keep grills and barbecue pits away from combustible materials and structures. Be sure to completely extinguish materials when done.
  • Drive safe: Keep alert and pull over for emergency vehicles.
  • Forbidden items: Do not bring glass items to parades.
  • Plan ahead: Make a plan and teach your children what to do in case they get separated.
  • Stay aware: “Keep your head on a swivel during parades.” Do not get hit by beads!
