Woman dead after car collision with semi-trailer truck in Mobile

MOBILE, Ala. ( WKRG ) — A woman is dead after a crash with a semi-trailer truck, according to the Mobile Police Department.

The MPD responded to reports of a traffic accident on Interstate 65 between Dauphin Street and Airport Boulevard at around 7:20 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 14.

LOCATION:

Preliminary investigations indicate that during slowed traffic, a semi-trailer truck was pulling a box trailer going southbound in the center lane.

Another vehicle, driven by 33-year-old Elizabeth Carvalho De Souza, collided with the trailer.

De Souza was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to reports. She later died of injuries from the collision.

The MPD is working to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
