MOBILE, Ala. ( WKRG ) — A conversation to build a new school in West Mobile is starting amongst Mobile County Public School Board members.
School Board member Johnny Hatcher said the reason for them considering building a new school is due to the growth in West Mobile.

He said the projected growth will cause Causey Middle and Baker High Schools to be overcrowded, and he hopes to try to prevent that from happening.
“First thing happens is the studies to make sure that we’re building the right school in the right location and that it can handle the amount of students that are in the area,” Hatcher said. “I think right now. Yeah, this is all preliminary.”
Hatcher says building a new school would take three to five years and could cost between $130 million and $150 million.
