The school’s principal, Jon Cardwell, announced at the end of the school year that every student will be expected to put their phone in a locked box at the start of every class period.

This new regulation is in effort to minimize digital distractions throughout the school day.

“No student needs their phone during class time,” Cardwell said.

Cardwell said he made the decision to implement the new rule when he noticed his student’s test scores gradually dropping.

He knew that something needed to be done, and after evaluating common distractions among his students, Cardwell said he noticed technology was the main culprit.

“I think just with them being able to focus more and actually do their work and listen to the teacher, I think that the scores are going to go up from this,” he said.
