Mobile County sheriff fed up, says gang violence ignored for years

The DA’s Office said in a press release that 45-year-old Elvis Dewayne Henderson was arrested this morning as officials with the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office, Mobile Police Department, and the U.S. Marshals executed an arrest warrant on a secret indictment.

According to documents, Henderson was indicted in December 2023 for attempted rape, second-degree burglary, third-degree robbery, and second-degree elder abuse.

Prosecutors said the charges stem from an incident that occurred in June 2023 when Henderson allegedly broke into the home of an elderly woman and beat her in an attempt to sexually assault her.

Henderson was booked into the Metro Jail with the following charges and bond amounts, officials said:

  • $30,000 bond for the first-degree attempted rape charge
